Fed­er­a­tion Fes­ti­val 2018 ready to roll

Plan­ning is well un­der way for the 2018 Corowa Ro­tary Club’s Fed­er­a­tion Fes­ti­val, which will run from Fri­day, Jan­uary 26 to Sun­day, Jan­uary 28.

This year’s theme is mul­ti­cul­tur­al­ism and or­gan­is­ers are look­ing for groups to get in­volved and are es­pe­cially look­ing for com­mu­nity groups from indige­nous and mi­grant back­grounds to en­ter floats and setup food and cul­tural stalls at the Fed­er­a­tion Mar­ket.

Fri­day night will see the start of the Fed­er­a­tion Fes­ti­val with the Fed­er­a­tion Din­ner and Tim Fis­cher Ora­tion, in the Oddfel­lows Hall from 6.30pm.

This year’s ora­tion will be pre­sented by Ma­jor Gen­eral Shane Caughey AM DSC.

Ma­jor Gen­eral Caughey is a Corowa lo­cal and re­turns home reg­u­larly to see fam­ily.

The cost of the din­ner is yet to be fi­nalised, but is ex­pected to be be­tween $40 and $45 for a three-course meal with drinks to be pur­chased at the bar.

Satur­day sees the start of the Fed­er­a­tion Mar­ket at Bangerang Park from 4pm un­til 9.30pm, when there will again be a fire­works dis­play.

The mar­ket will start again at 8.30am on Sun­day, with an ec­u­meni­cal ser­vice at 9.30am, run­ning through to around 2pm.

Satur­day night will also see the B&S Ball at the Corowa rugby ground.

Prices are $120 if booked be­fore 5pm on Thurs­day, Jan­uary 25, or $130 at the gate.

The bands per­form­ing are Keg on the day stage and the Ian Archibald Band, Gary East­wood and the Sil­ver String Out­laws on the night stage.

Sun­day sees the Fed­er­a­tion Pa­rade down Sanger Street from 11am.

There will again be a num­ber of bands per­form­ing and ne­go­ti­a­tions are on­go­ing for a cou­ple of spe­cial ap­pear­ances.
