Historic photos returned to Wahgunyah

The Free Press (Corowa) - - FRONT PAGE -

The Wahgunyah History Group received an email in late January from a Sydney businessman Phil Seymour enquiring “if we had seen these original photos before”?

He had discovered them in a Sydney Antique shop; with him having property in Rutherglen he recognised them immediately.

Attached to the email were images of three large frames with a total of eight early Wahgunyah photos.

We have copies of them all but had never seen them presented like this.

Unfortunately several of the images had se- vere water damage, and the surrounding was rather marked but had lovely calligraphy relating to each photo. What a find? The History Group asked Phil to purchase these frames on our behalf.

So with a great deal of thanks last Tuesday Phil and his partner Karen handed over these photos to members of our group.

During April the Corowa Federation Museum have invited the Wahgunyah History Group to have an exhibition at their museum, these photos will be on display for the first time.

Phil Seymour and partner Karen.
