Ella to compete in ‘Tradie Olympics’
After winning gold at the Regional Worldskills Competition last October, beauty therapist Ella James now has her sights set on the national championships.
Ella is studying a diploma of beauty therapy with GOTAFE in Wangaratta and will head to Sydney in June to represent Victoria in the ‘Tradie Olympics’.
Eleven Gold Medallists from GOTAFE successfully completed the selection process for the national championships and will join the 86 strong team representing Victoria on the national stage.
Ella is employed at Rutherglen’s Silken Dragonfly where she puts her beauty therapy skills to use each day she works.
Ella told the Free Press she is looking forward to competing against the best in her field but before she does she will fit in some extra training where she can.
“It’s come around so quick and I am so excited for it,” she said.
“I think it will be a great opportunity for me to meet others in the field.
“There are four other beauty therapists in Victoria competing, but I don’t know how many others there are from the other states that I will be up against.”
Ella finished with a high score of 94 at the regional competition that involved students performing a series of treatments over a six-hour period including a facial, waxing through to a French manicure, evening make-up, lash and brow tinting.
Ella hopes the competition will help get her name out in the beauty therapy industry.
“People in the industry will be at the competition and will see what I can do,” she said.
