Polo attracts strong crowd
Not even a little rain could keep people away from the most fashionable ticket in town at the weekend when All Saints Estate hosted the final game on the Victorian Polo Club calendar on Saturday.
A crowd of about 1100 filled the marquees or relaxed beside the Polo ground in the general admission area, enjoying the plentiful array of food and beverages at the field-side bars.
One of the highlights was Gamble Breaux from the Real Housewives of Melbourne fame who attended to host the Fashions in the Vineyard and judged the competitors alongside Eric Boesten from Bared Footwear and Candice Robinson from Candice Robinson Style.
The winner was Tony Phillips who was awarded vouchers from local businesses including Bared Footwear, Verity Rhodes Interiors, Circa 1926, Blush Skin and Body, All Saints Estate, Shine Boutique Corowa, Jack and the Fox Hairdressers, Miss Madelaine Millinery and Vintage and a Thistle and Fern bouquet.
While the runner-up was Karen Crook who won vouchers from Gyles Newsagency Corowa, a Miss Madelaine Millinery gift pack, a Vintage and Pharmasave Corowa gift pack, and a Thistle and Fern bouquet, and a Gamble Breaux Clutch valued at $380.
All Saints Sales and Marketing Director Angela Brown said the guests experienced classic country hospitality in the surrounds of the historic winery while enjoying the thrills of high level Polo, premium wine and food and musical entertainment.
The event followed on from the huge success of the inaugural event in March 2016.
Angela said the crowd exceeded expectations, especially considering the windy and wet conditions later in the day.
“It was an incredible day of Polo, fine wine and fabulous fashion,” she said.
“It’s such a great day and is popular because it crosses all demographics; it’s a fun day out for the young ones, and those interested in fashion can take part in the Fashions in the Vineyard competition, and it is also great for the local farmers and people interested in the horses.
“Accommodation in the local area was full with people coming from far and wide to enjoy the event.”
The day included two exciting matches of polo featuring some of Australia’s leading players and several local players.
