CDHBU – Netball

The Free Press (Corowa) - - CLASSIES (03) -

Woolworths Corowa recently donated a variety of seasonal fresh fruit, bread, ingredients for sandwiches and water to the Rooky Roos Development Netball Program.

The Woolworths Corowa team will continue to supply fresh fruit, sandwiches and water over the next four months at each of the netball tournaments.

The Development Netball Program is in its first season and made up for ten girls aged under 16 who have a strong passion for the sport.

The ongoing donation of food will help support the cost of entering the Rooky Roos into ongoing netball tournaments.

Woolworths Corowa Store Manager, Helen Hendren said Woolworths were proud to support the Rooky Roos over the next four months and watch them develop into the big league.

“This delivery is part of our commitment to making a difference in our local community and supporting those who need it,” she said.

A Grade – Henty 39 def CDHBU 35.

The A grade girls came out with a strong game plan this week and were much more settled than round 1.

They started beautifully with the defence working tirelessly for each turnover and the goalies converting their work.

Unfortunately in the second half the girls lost their structure and this was evident in the ball movement.

We welcomed Sisi Howard to the team this week and she has made an immediate impact on the moral of the team and with her knowledge and experience the girls have a lot to look forward to this season.

Erica Hanrahan was on fire in defence, causing numerous turnovers. Brooke Morris once again showed why she is in the A grade team this year, with lots of voice and hard work throughout the game.

Overall, it was much better than last week and showed exactly what these girls are capable of if they can put four quarters together.

Awards: Essential Beauty- Brooke Morris, Border Natural Therapies, Erica Hanrahan, Newmarket Mug - Erica Hanrahan.

B Grade – Henty 45 def CDHBU 13.

This week was not the best for the B grade girls. A lot of changes had to be made this week and with two of our players having to move up in to A grade this week, it really unsettled the girls.

Chelsea Ferwerda had a stellar game in GD and earned herself the mug. Brooke Dickie showed she will be a force in defence this year, working brilliantly with Chelsea to give us plenty of opportunities.

Miss consistent, Tegan Nolen once again showed her versatility and ability to read the game.

The defence worked hard this week, but unfortunately we couldn’t convert down the other end. Next week is a new week and with the inclusion of some injured players for round 3, it will be a more settled and experienced team.

Unfortunately we lost in a tight game against Henty however it was a tough fought game and a great team effort.

Everyone played their part and we saw the girls gel even more so no doubt they will continue improving as the season continues.

All girls put into practice things they learnt at training during the week which saw our shooters standing strong and our defenders very intimidating.

The mid court all applied great defensive pressure and there were definite moments of brilliance. Just a few little mistakes let us down but they should be very proud of their efforts.

Awards: Boyer Automotive - Isabel Walton, Origin Clothing- Maya Ross, Ladies Committee - Amarni Taylor.

Under 12’s had a great game, the girls came out strong with front leads like we practiced at training during the week.

Tayah had a great first half in GS, both holding well and cutting in front of her girl, she only missed one goal.

Niamh was at the other end also having a great game in GK, she kept on her girl smelling her armpits like we talked about at training.

The score was pretty even at half time but our girls fought back keeping them goalless for the last five minutes of the third quarter.

I’m so proud of all the girls and how they played and put training ideas into game day.

Ava and Ash continued to drive and change directions when they saw each other in the same spot. Sophie had an amazing game in defence, she was backed up all game by Emma who took lots of intercepts.

Remy and Tamir ran and ran all game. Mickey had a great second half in GS also holding well, great to have you back Mickey.

10/U – Henty 13 def CDHBU 4.

Although our girls didn’t win today they can all walk away knowing they are improving and starting to become a team unit.
