Floodplain committee nominations

Nominations for Federation Council’s Floodplain Management Committee close on April 27.

Federation Council will be represented by its Mayor Pat Bourke and Cr Fred Longmire, as decided at council’s monthly meeting on April 17.

The committee will assist in the next stage of the Urana, Boree Creek, Rand, Oaklands and Morundah flood planning works.

The new committee will meet with contractors who will be employed to create the Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan.

“It is considered critical that council continues with the flood planning works to identify mitigation measures to lessen the impacts of flooding on the subject towns and villages,” council’s Director Infrastructure and Environment Peter Gall said.
