Muscat Run now October
One of the iconic events of the Winery Walkabout Weekend - the Rutherglen Muscat Run will not be run on the traditional June Long Weekend and will be moved to October.
After an extensive review of available resources, the Rotary Club of Rutherglen, the organizers of the event have decided to move it to later in the year.
Event organizer Peter Walker says it has become increasingly difficult for the club to run this event, along with other activities on the long weekend, such as the Hole in One at Stanton & Killen and also the market in the Main Street of Rutherglen all of which happen at the same time as the run.
Peter says the event has been moved to October 7, which is the week prior to the Melbourne Marathon.
“It was felt this was a better fit for the club, as there were no activities at this time of year and it would be a good training event just prior to the marathon,” Peter said.
“There will be more information closer to the day giving all starters, both definite and the not so definite plenty of time to prepare.
“As usual there will be great prizes particularly for those who would like to dress up for the occasion,” he said.
