Special Spiders reunion
A memorable Corowa Spiders 1968 premiership 50-year reunion was enjoyed by the Corowa and district football community on Sunday.
As the O and M Chairman David Sinclair aptly said on the day, “to have a reunion is very good and to have a reunion premiership is even better”.
Ten players from the premiership side were able to attend and loved catching up with fellow players, some of whom they have not seen for decades.
A significant reunion such as this highlights the importance of team and club in our communities.
It was clear the reunion was a most satisfying part of the club’s history and that was evident as the players stayed chatting for several hours.
Attendees loved hearing past players recalling fond memories of their time at the club and premiership day.
The successful team in 1968 was greatly supported by many of the club personal including trainers, boundary umpires, officials and other club members both male and female.
The players who have since passed from the premiership team were also recognised.
Congratulations to the key organisers including the superb microphone performance by Robert Tait and Phil Godde, this was an important milestone to mark, remember and celebrate.
