Roos’ scoreboard sensation
“We went in it, hoping we’d win it and support the Corowa Football Netball Club,” Wendy told The Free Press of their names being called out, which has contributed towards a brand new $45,000 electronic scoreboard at John Foord Oval. “It’s pretty exciting.”
“The scoreboard improves the amenities around the ground,” Jim, who played about 105 senior games with Corowa, added.
Club president Graham Hosier said the club had been investigating the possibility of a scoreboard for some time. “We were lucky enough that Jim and Wendy went in a competition with our local IGA store and won $10,000 for the club,” he said.
“Our Past Players Group also wanted this project over the years and has contributed an amount of money and with our cropping program, we just about have the balance.
“Our club really appreciates the wonderful donation of money from IGA. The amount has played a major part in what we’ve been wanting to do for some time.”
You’ve got to be in it to win it, and Wendy and Jim Eyres of Corowa were hoping to be the winners of Corowa’s IGA Supermarket $10,000 donation to an organisation of their choice.
