Tara Wells, better known by her stage name ‘Tarzie Warzie’, is holding an event this Saturday, June 16 as part of her ‘I believe’ music tour.

Tara is a singer-songwriter who currently lives in Melbourne but grew up in Rutherglen, visiting regularly over the years to play music.

Her guitar, ukulele, stomp box and singing skills will be taking her all the way from Melbourne up to far North Queensland, stopping at the Victoria Hotel in Rutherglen this Saturday night.

Tara is releasing a new single and raising money and awareness for domestic violence against women and men, to give people more resources to seek if they need help escaping unhealthy relationships or family violence situations.

Tara has been affected by these unwanted conditions and is using her music tour as a platform to get the message out.

Raising money for White Ribbon Australia – a non for profit organisation working to end men’s violence against women – ambassador Rupinder Kaur will be coming to speak on the night about domestic violence and ways to both recognise and prevent it.

Tara began teaching herself guitar roughly eight years ago and always had a love for music.

“I had always loved music and enjoyed it so much that song writing just came with it. I connect with music like so many people and was able to write songs to the tunes I’d come up with,” she told The Free Press.

“I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis when I was 25 and I found song writing and music to be very healing and motivating for me.

“My chronic pain issues make me stop and think what is important and what is not as I can no longer do everything I used to be able to.”

For this tour, Tara will be incorporating her own originals around cover songs over a three-hour period.

The event will start at 6pm and end at 9pm, being held over dinner.

Bookings are essential to secure a seat in the dining room.

Tara will be collecting donations on the evening, with half of the money raised by CD sales on the night being donated.

The self-taught nature of her music is bound to leave audience members with a smile of appreciation.

Her new “I believe” single has been released on iTunes.

Local music sensation Tara Wells will make a special appearance in Rutherglen this Saturday.
