“Good public art, design and architecture can create a unique community identity that informs the sense of place and iconic branding of the council area,” she said upon the policy’s formal adoption at council’s monthly meeting on August 21.

“It can elevate the aesthetic profile for our urban environments, play a role in attracting businesses and workers, and encourage the growth of a culturally-informed public.”

Federation Council’s draft policy was on public exhibition for 30 days after being endorsed at the June meeting. No submissions were received and no amendments were made.

Federation Council’s Public Art Policy provides a framework for effective management of public art and best outcomes from aesthetic, functional and economic perspectives according to council’s director corporate and community services Kristy Kay.
