Fol­low­ing its suc­cess­ful de­but last year, Ruther­glen in the City re­turns to Mel­bourne on Septem­ber 22 and 23. Ruther­glen in the City par­tic­i­pat­ing winer­ies:

This year, the col­lec­tive of winer­ies from Ruther­glen in north-east Vic­to­ria will con­verge at The Atrium in Fed­er­a­tion Square for the two-day wine event.

Bring­ing the essence of Ruther­glen into the heart of Mel­bourne, Ruther­glen in the City will fea­ture a pop-up wine and cock­tail bar along­side 17 win­ery cel­lar doors.

Ruther­glen in the City will of­fer more than the av­er­age wine tast­ing event with­out the has­sle of pre-book­ing or pur­chas­ing tick­ets. For $5, Mel­bur­ni­ans can wan­der through a cu­rated cel­lar door set-up and taste wines from 17 pro­duc­ers, in­clud­ing cel­lar door ex­clu­sives.

Visi­tors can also pur­chase wine to take home, try Ruther­glen Mus­cat cock­tails (Mus­cat Nou­veau Spritz and Hip Sip Mus­cat Fruit Cup), en­joy a bite to eat from two of Mel­bourne’s favourite food trucks (Happy Cam­per Pizza and Beat­box Kitchen), be­fore set­tling in with a glass of wine from the bar.

Ruther­glen in the City will pro­vide Mel­bur­ni­ans the chance to dis­cover the dis­tinct wine va­ri­etals that flour­ish in the re­gion. Try the world-fa­mous Ruther­glen Mus­cat, bold Du­rifs, play­ful sparkling reds or al­ter­na­tive aro­matic whites such as Marsanne, Viog­nier, Rous­sanne and Ugni Blanc.

Ruther­glen in the City will run from Satur­day, Septem­ber 22 (12pm-8pm) to Sun­day Septem­ber 23 (12pm-6pm). En­try is free with a $5 tast­ing fee – food, wine and cock­tails will be at bar and cel­lar door prices.
