Waste solution motions
Federation Council’s General Manager Adrian Butler, Mayor Pat Bourke and Deputy Mayor Shaun Whitechurch will meet to formally submit motions to the Local Government NSW Board accordingly.
One such motion will be the issue of waste entering waterways, as suggested by Cr Bronwyn Thomas at council’s monthly meeting on August 21.
“The rubbish in the lake (Lake Mulwala) was really noticeable,” she said, following the recent emptying of the lake.
The annual conference is to be held in Albury from Sunday October 21 to Tuesday, October 23.
“It is the pre-eminent event of the Local Government year where local councillors come together to share ideas and debate issues that shape the way LGNSW then sets policy to lobby State and Federal Governments over the next 12 months,” Mr Butler said.
Mr Butler and Crs Bourke and Whitechurch, along with all other councillors, will represent Federation Council at the conference.
Federation Council has authorised its General Manager to be a member of the Murray Darling Association Authority’s Strategic Advisory SubCommittee which assists in developing board policy.
The subject of sustainable waste solutions for regions – plastic bags, green waste, and renewable/alternative energy including waste for energy – will be raised at the 2018 Local Government NSW Annual Conference.
