Indigo Shire Mayor, Jenny O’Connor will publicly launch her campaign for the seat of Benambra as an Independent in the 2018 Victorian state election.

Ms O’Connor who has been the mayor of Indigo Shire Council for the past two years will be launching her campaign by outlining her priorities and why she decided to run on Thursday, October 11 outside the Cube in Wodonga. Ms O’Connor has been a nurse, a community health worker, a small business owner and an effective local mayor.

As mayor of Indigo Shire she stood with the Stanley community against water mining that was putting their livelihoods at risk. She is now taking the fight to Spring Street in an effort to change the Water Act so that rural communities get a say in who gets access to their water. Ms O’Connor also fought off a move to take 150 jobs out of Kiewa/Tangambalanga, and helped to keep the dairy factory open – keeping 60 dairy processing jobs in the region. Securing the future of that plant and Benambra’s dairy industry is one of her top priorities.

Indigo Shire Mayor, Jenny O’Connor will contest the seat of Benambra for November’s Victorian State Election.
