New beanie competition
One of the new and exciting features of this year’s Corowa Show is the introduction of the beanie competition.
Ahead of the highly-anticipated show this Sunday, get out your knitting needles and crochet hooks and begin constructing your own adult or children’s beanies.
All beanies can be entered into the show and donated to two wonderful organisations; adult beanies will go to Hilltop Albury Wodonga Patient and Carer Accommodation Centre managed by Fight Cancer Foundation, while children’s beanies will go to Maya’s Rest which is situated on top of a hill in Yass NSW and is set on 12 acres surrounded by beautiful countryside, a few minutes from Yass and 45 minutes to Canberra.
Maya’s Rest offers respite free of charge to families of children with serious illnesses and those in home based end of life care. They also offer time away for families who are grieving the loss of a child.
Beanie entries may be delivered to the Craft Shop in Rutherglen, South Corowa Country Store and the Corowa Showgrounds from 11am to 4pm each day this week.
Beanie entries are 50 cents each and there will be a 1st and 2nd prize to be won in each section. Any queries can be sent to Jan McKenna on 0427 331 148. You can also visit this link to download a beanie pattern: http://www. corowashow.com/competitions/beanie-knitting-competition.
