Scouts’ suc­cess

Pick My Project is a com­mu­nity grants ini­tia­tive which al­lows Vic­to­ri­ans to come up with project ideas that will help make their lo­cal com­mu­nity an even bet­ter place to live, and then vote for their favourite projects to be funded.

All 2,299 sub­mit­ted projects were as­sessed and re­viewed, with 237 of them re­ceiv­ing enough votes to war­rant fund­ing.

Fund­ing was split equally be­tween metro and re­gional Vic­to­ria, with each of the six metro and nine re­gional part­ner­ship ar­eas re­ceiv­ing a min­i­mum of $1m.

Fund­ing within each part­ner­ship area was then al­lo­cated by pop­u­la­tion. To en­sure a range of small and large com­mu­ni­ties had the op­por­tu­nity to be part of Pick My Project, no more than 50 per cent of a part­ner­ship area’s

The Ruther­glen Scout Hall will share in $30 mil­lion af­ter it was the only suc­cess­ful project out of six projects from the Ruther­glen and Wah­gun­yah area, as part of the Vic­to­rian Gov­ern­ment’s Pick My Project cam­paign.

Sev­eral joeys, cubs and scouts are filled with ela­tion af­ter the Ruther­glen Scout Hall project was suc­cess­ful as part of Pick My Project, re­ceiv­ing $200,000 to go to­wards restora­tion of the hall.
