Val­ley me­mo­rial gains fund­ing

THE Collinsvale RSL will re­ceive $5000 to re­store and main­tain the lo­cal war me­mo­rial.

Min­is­ter for Vet­er­ans Af­fairs Scott Ba­con yes­ter­day an­nounced re­cip­i­ents of round two of the Tas­ma­nian Gov­ern­ments War Me­mo­rial Re­pair and Main­te­nance Grants.

‘‘Our war me­mo­ri­als en­able com­mu­ni­ties to hon­our our vet­er­ans and our ser­vice men and women, and this fund­ing pack­age is an im­por­tant way to en­sure they are ap­pro­pri­ately main­tained,’’ Mr Ba­con said.

‘‘These me­mo­ri­als pro­vide a place for us to re­flect upon the im­pact of war, the sac­ri­fices made by those that fought for us, as well as the ef­forts made and losses ex­pe­ri­enced by the gen­er­a­tions that sup­ported them.’’

Other or­gan­i­sa­tions who re­ceived the fund­ing in­cluded the – Avoca Mu­seum and In­for­ma­tion Cen­tre, $2600

Cir­cu­lar Head Coun­cil, $1943, Huon Val­ley Coun­cil, $5000, King Is­land RSL, $700, Legerwood Hall and Re­serves Com­mit­tee Inc., $5000, Scotts­dale RSL Sub Branch, $1327 and the Zee­han RSL Sub Branch, $2850.
