Valley memorial gains funding
THE Collinsvale RSL will receive $5000 to restore and maintain the local war memorial.
Minister for Veterans Affairs Scott Bacon yesterday announced recipients of round two of the Tasmanian Governments War Memorial Repair and Maintenance Grants.
‘‘Our war memorials enable communities to honour our veterans and our service men and women, and this funding package is an important way to ensure they are appropriately maintained,’’ Mr Bacon said.
‘‘These memorials provide a place for us to reflect upon the impact of war, the sacrifices made by those that fought for us, as well as the efforts made and losses experienced by the generations that supported them.’’
Other organisations who received the funding included the – Avoca Museum and Information Centre, $2600
Circular Head Council, $1943, Huon Valley Council, $5000, King Island RSL, $700, Legerwood Hall and Reserves Committee Inc., $5000, Scottsdale RSL Sub Branch, $1327 and the Zeehan RSL Sub Branch, $2850.
