Frothy fest a huge crowd pleaser
THE ‘bush dance’ themed Hopfest held on the weekend has been declared a huge success.
Derwent Valley Band manager Layton Hodgetts was thrilled with the attendance.
‘‘It was an outstandingly successful evening,’’ Mr Hodgetts said.
‘‘About 150 people from near and far came to the event with people dancing and enjoying themselves until late in the evening. There were people of all ages from all walks of life. Bethanie Kearney was calling the dances and she made it easy for them all to join in.’’
A team of volunteers, led by Maree Reiper, spent Saturday decorating the hall and preparing a feast for all.
The event has been held as a fundraiser for the concert band for the past five years. Mr Hodgetts said he was extremely grateful to all those who supported the event.
