Gover­nor presents medals for ser­vice

TWO Der­went Val­ley res­i­dents who were hon­oured ear­lier this year in the Queen’s Birth­day hon­ours have re­ceived their awards.

For­mer mayor Tony Ni­chol­son and the first fe­male coun­cil­lor in the re­gion, the late Dorothy Robin­son, were awarded the Medal of the Or­der of Aus­tralia (OAM) by Gover­nor Kate Warner at a re­cep­tion at Gov­ern­ment House last Fri­day.

Mrs Robin­son’s son Greg ac­cepted the award on be­half of his mother, who died last year aged 85.

Two lo­cals also are re­ceiv­ing Con­spic­u­ous Ser­vice Medals. Navy Lieu­tenant Com­man­der Mark Wil­son is awarded his in Syd­ney to­mor­row while War­rant Of­fi­cer Class One Jason Jarvis, still serv­ing in Afghanistan, re­ceives his on his re­turn.
