Breakfast for a cause

The Gazette (Derwent Valley) - - NEWS - BEN WATERWORTH

HUNGRY diners can satisfy their breakfast cravings this morning while also helping support young people in the Derwent Valley.

The annual “Beacon and Egg Breakfast” is on again today at McDonald’s, with $1 from every Egg and Bacon McMuffin sold going to the Beacon Foundation’s work providing job opportunities for young Tasmanians.

New Norfolk McDonald’s product quality manager George Hanlin said that events like this were important for the restaurant.

“McDonald’s has always been one for helping out locals,” he said.

Beacon Foundation CEO Scott Harris said the partnership was crucial in helping career development for people in the Valley.

“McDonald’s and Beacon share a vision for Australia where young people are well equipped to enter the workforce and make positive choices,” he said.

Several businesses in the New Norfolk area have joined in the day by pre-ordering Bacon and Egg McMuffins to help support the cause.

“Usually they’ll send us an email with orders [for the day] and we’ll have them ready for them,” Mr Hanlin said.

The McMuffins will be on sale from 6am to 10.30am.
