Ambrose brings out the best in fantastic four
SENSATIONAL scoring was the order of the day during Saturday’s four-man Ambrose event at the New Norfolk Golf Club.
With the course in excellent condition, scoring was expected to be good and that certainly proved the case.
The winners in the net were the team of Kerry Wilton, Pat Graham, Robin Hoare and Adam Savage, who fired a fantastic 16 under off the stick to come in with 46 7/8 net. Runners-up in the net were the combination of Peter Browning, Daryl Smith, Nathan Smith and Peter Jelkic with a 51¼ net.
In the gross, Glenn Heron, Leigh Heron, Mike Smith and Michael Wardlaw combined well to fire a 12-under 57 to win from the team of Leigh Post, Matthew Reid, Jason Britten and Josh Hall, who returned with a 58
In the Wednesday stroke competition, Tony Banks took out the 18-hole event with a great 63 net, with Wayne Hodge runner-up just two behind with 65 net.
Brian Wilson was a clear winner in the nine-hole competition with a fantastic 28½ net, followed by Tony Banks with an excellent 30 net
