Am­brose brings out the best in fan­tas­tic four

SEN­SA­TIONAL scor­ing was the or­der of the day dur­ing Satur­day’s four-man Am­brose event at the New Nor­folk Golf Club.

With the course in ex­cel­lent con­di­tion, scor­ing was ex­pected to be good and that cer­tainly proved the case.

The win­ners in the net were the team of Kerry Wil­ton, Pat Graham, Robin Hoare and Adam Sav­age, who fired a fan­tas­tic 16 un­der off the stick to come in with 46 7/8 net. Run­ners-up in the net were the com­bi­na­tion of Peter Browning, Daryl Smith, Nathan Smith and Peter Jel­kic with a 51¼ net.

In the gross, Glenn Heron, Leigh Heron, Mike Smith and Michael Ward­law com­bined well to fire a 12-un­der 57 to win from the team of Leigh Post, Matthew Reid, Jason Brit­ten and Josh Hall, who re­turned with a 58

In the Wed­nes­day stroke com­pe­ti­tion, Tony Banks took out the 18-hole event with a great 63 net, with Wayne Hodge run­ner-up just two be­hind with 65 net.

Brian Wil­son was a clear win­ner in the nine-hole com­pe­ti­tion with a fan­tas­tic 28½ net, fol­lowed by Tony Banks with an ex­cel­lent 30 net
