The Gazette (Derwent Valley) - - NEWS -

A PURPOSE-built “hearing bus” will visit New Norfolk today to offer free hearing checks and raise hearing health awareness in the Derwent Valley.

The bus is travelling around Tasmania for the first time in the lead-up to Seniors Week next month and will stop at the Woolworths carpark today between 9.30am and 12.30pm.

Manager at Australian Hearing Glenorchy Edgar Rincon said the bus tour was a great way for people to check their hearing health.

“A hearing check is a quick and easy way to measure the sounds you can and can’t hear,” Mr Rincon said. “Our team will also be on hand to guide visitors through the next steps needed in regards to managing a hearing loss.”

About 60 per cent of Australians over 60 suffer from some form of hearing loss with the Australian Hearing’s mobile bus tour providing more than 35,000 free hearing checks since its launch in 2009.
