Lodge will host mar­ket

THE his­toric Hawthorn Lodge at Bushy Park will host its first-ever mar­ket and open gar­dens this week­end.

The 150-year-old cot­tage, which re­cently re­opened as a bed and break­fast for the first time in five years last De­cem­ber, will hold the mar­ket and open gar­dens on Easter Satur­day be­tween 1pm and 5pm.

Hawthorn Lodge coowner Marie Bean said the idea had al­ways been some­thing they had planned.

“In the three months we have been at Hawthorn Lodge we have been amazed with the tal­ent in this area,” she said. “Some­body men­tioned that Hawthorn Lodge would be a great lo­ca­tion for lo­cal pro­duc­ers, artists and crafts peo­ple to dis­play and sell their wares in a mar­ket form. We have been want­ing to have an open gar­den for a long time so we thought it would be good to com­bine the two.”
