UP and coming New Norfolk swimmer Kate Denholm is taking on some of Australia’s best this week as she sets her sights high for a long career in the sport.
The 15-year-old is swimming in the 100m breastroke at the National Age Swimming Championships in Adelaide today.
The Collegiate schoolgirl is also representing Tasmania in the under 18’s 4x100 relay at the Georgina Hope Australian Age Championships held at the Adelaide Aquatic Center.
Kate said it was a big achievement “just to get to the nationals”.
“It’s a chance to swim with other competitors from all over Australia,’’ she said.
Kate had to beat the qualifying time of under 1.20 minutes to compete in the breastroke event.
She has been training for three years which includes five to six days a week with the Hobart Aquatic Swim Club at the Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre.
