International self-defence expert visits

The Gazette (Derwent Valley) - - NEWS - SHAUN McMANUS

AN internationally-renowned Krav Maga instructor visited the Derwent Valley to teach teachers everything he knows.

Head of the International Krav Maga Federation’s Women’s Division, Shlomi Moyal, of Israel, was at the Derwent Valley PCYC from last week, helping instructors from across Australia hone their self-defence skills.

Part of the IKMF’s Global Instructor Team, Mr Moyal also hosted a women-only self defence seminar.

Tasmanian IKMF instructor and Derwent Valley local Chris Lobb, who teaches Krav Maga at the PCYC, said it was a “unique” opportunity to have Mr Moyal in the state.

“For us, it’s a great opportunity to get a number of instructors down here, there’s 12 instructors all up doing the course,” Mr Lobb said.

“To have an instructor of Shlomi’s calibre, it’s not happened here before.”
