Schools get extra funding

The Gazette (Derwent Valley) - - NEWS -

NEW Norfolk schools have been named among 38 across Tasmania set to receive additional funding for literacy and numeracy programs in 2018.

As part of the Government’s Middle Years Project, a selection panel approved eight associations representing 38 schools for funding in a meeting last month.

New Norfolk schools that will receive additional funding include Fairview Primary School, New Norfolk High School and New Norfolk Primary School.

Education and Training Minister Jeremy Rockliff said the funding would provide additional literacy and numeracy support for Government schools with an emphasis on grades four to eight and the transition from years six to seven.

“The funding is allowing them to drive improved leadership practices, accessing tailored professional learning and providing access to resources to support improved teaching and learning,” Mr Rockliff said.
