Highlands Bushfest on again

The Gazette (Derwent Valley) - - NEWS -

FROM fly-tying to speed shearing, the very best of the Central Highlands will be on show at this weekend’s Highlands Bushfest.

The fourth annual bushfest will be held at the Bothwell Recreation Ground on Saturday and Sunday.

About 90 stalls will showcase the region’s fishing, hunting, camping, outdoor recreation, and much more.

Central Highlands Mayor Loueen Triffitt said the event was gathering momentum.

“We’ve had around 4000 through the gate each year, and we’re hoping to increase that this year,” Cr Triffitt said

“It brings people from all over Tasmania and some mainlanders, so it’s quite a big occasion.

“It’s becoming increasingly popular ... a lot of people look forward to the weekend.”

Other highlights of the Highlands Bushfest will include working dog displays and animal nurseries.

There will also be plenty of free entertainment and activities for children.

Hook, Line and Sinker hosts Andrew Hart and Nick Duigan have again been recruited to MC the event.

Gates open from 9am-4pm on Saturday and 9am-3pm on Sunday. Entry is by gold coin donation.
