A PLAN for structural changes in New Norfolk has earnt Hobart planning firm Emma Riley and Associates the Best Planning Ideas Award for a large project.

A panel of industry judges from the Planning Institute of Australia recognised the firm had fully considered the unique qualities of the area

Business owner and planner Emma Riley said the plan was focused on the realistic future of the town.

“We really focused on looking at New Norfolk’s key advantages and strengthening the unique qualities,” Ms Riley said.

New Norfolk’s heritage values, open spaces and walking trails were among some of the town’s strengths identified in the plan.

The Structure Plan was commissioned by the Derwent Valley council and the business worked with a consultancy team including businesses Knight Frank and Playstreet Urban Design.

The judges said the plan was excellent for an area undergoing structural change
