APPLICATIONS have opened for a new program to help remote and regional students study science, technology, engineering, and maths.
Scholarships up to $18,000 are available for 1200 students across Australia.
Prospective vocational education, undergraduate and postgraduate students (Certificate IV to PhD) are eligible to apply for a Rural and Regional Enterprise Scholarship.
Tasmanian Liberal senator Jonathon Duniam encouraged local students to apply.
The scholarships will operate from 2017-18 to 2020-21, with the first round of 600 scholarships being awarded for the 2018 academic year.
The first round of applications closes on January 8.
