Valley footballers up with the best
LOCAL football duo Tyron Bailey and Braydon Golding are packing their boots and guernseys ahead of the Under 15 boys’ championships in Adelaide.
The boys, both from New Norfolk, will fly to the South Australian capital next Friday to take on the other state representative teams in the nine-day tournament.
The young guns have been training with Tasmania’s state side since November but were only told they made the cut for the travelling team in at the end of June.
Braydon, who plays club football for North Hobart’s Under 16 side, said he had never played football outside of Tasmania.
“It’s going to be an eye opener for sure,” he said. “I never made it into the Under 12 [state] team so it will be something different for me.”
Tyron said the tournament in Adelaide would provide valuable experience as he hopes to play professional football in the future.
“There are a lot of good players out there and you’ve got to try to be better than them,” he said.
Tyron also represented the state in the Under 12 side.
The boys will fly to Adelaide on July 20.
Tyron’s mother Alison Bailey is running a raffle to help cover the costs of travel expenses. Anyone wanting to buy a ticket can contact her directly through her Facebook page.
