Rates increase considered
A RATES increase of nearly 6 per cent will be considered at a special meeting of the Derwent Valley Council tomorrow night.
Council staff will recommend a 5.85 per cent increase in the general rate, on top of other fees and charges increased at last month’s meeting.
Major projects proposed in the draft budget include repairs to Laskey car park, reconstruction of Third Ave and the area of Blair and Grey streets.
Security improvements are proposed for the council chambers and public toilets will be upgraded.
The council budget meeting will be held at 6pm tomorrow at the courthouse in Circle St.
