Our juniors shine in league count
TWO New Norfolk Junior Football Club players in Charlie Lovell and Bailey Wheeler have made their mark in their respective age groups by taking out their best and fairest awards in the Southern Tasmanian Junior Football League.
Charlie, who plays with the Under 17s as a midfielder and vice-captain, has had a stellar season. Charlie has been a fine leader for her team and played an important role in this Sunday’s grand final win against Kingborough.
Bailey Wheeler, our other champ in the making, took out the Under 14C best and fairest award. The everimproving midfielder has had a number of people talk about his ability this season, which has stemmed from last season when he made the state Under 12 team.
Bailey plays a year above is age which says a lot in these early years. He finished runner-up in the NNJFC Under 12 best and fairest last season and will most likely be in the mix again at this season’s club count. WELL done to NNJFC president Chris Lovell, who was made a life member of the STJFL at the awards night.
Lovell has been an untiring contributor to both the STJFL and NNJFC for many years. THE New Norfolk Junior Football Club best and fairest counts and trophy presentations will be held at the New Norfolk District Football Clubrooms on Friday from 6pm for 6.30pm start.
Counts will be held for the Under 12 boys, Under 13 girls, Under 14 boys and Under 17 girls. Supper will be provided with a $5 cover charge for adults —children get in for free. THE NNJFC will hold its annual player-guardian
