Man charged with speed­ing

PO­LICE have clamped the car of a Sandy Bay man ac­cused of trav­el­ling more than 100km/h over the speed limit in the Cen­tral High­lands.

Li­awe­nee po­lice al­lege a blue Honda Civic was de­tected trav­el­ling at 202km/h in a 100km/h zone on High­land Lakes Rd near Li­awe­nee last Tues­day.

The 34-year-old driver was in­ter­cepted by po­lice and had his ve­hi­cle clamped for 28 days.

He was charged with op­er­at­ing a ve­hi­cle in pub­lic place in an un­nec­es­sary ex­e­cu­tion of speed, ac­cel­er­a­tion or loss of trac­tion, and ex­ceed­ing the speed limit. He was bailed to ap­pear be­fore the Ho­bart Mag­is­trates Court at a later date.
