Dog lovers get things yappening
A GROUP of dog lovers is leading the charge to form a new Dog Walking Association in the Derwent Valley.
A committee of passionate social walkers will hold its inaugural meeting this Sunday, where members will discuss ideas about the safest dog walking areas in the Valley.
Derwent Valley Dog Walking Association’s Stephanie Tabram said the group aimed to bring together community residents and their canine companions to promote social and emotional wellness while exercising.
“Our aim is to encourage everyone to have fun, love their dogs and enjoy our beautiful Valley,” Ms Tabram said.
“We intend to hold social walks and events for members throughout the Valley, the first being at Tynwald Park Walk on Sunday, October 14, at 10am.”
Ms Tabram said the social group of walkers aimed to create a committee similar to other dog walking groups around Hobart.
“We hope to have a voice at council with the aim of helping make available safe dog areas within our community,” Ms Tabram said. “We want to promote responsible dog ownership, encourage safe practises, education and training.”
