Heater sparks blaze

TWO ship­ping con­tain­ers and a shed on a re­mote Elder­slie prop­erty have been de­stroyed af­ter an open wood heater sparked a blaze.

Tas­ma­nia Fire Ser­vice crews from Bridge­wa­ter, Brighton and Broad­marsh re- sponded to the fire at Bluff Road about 11.30am on Mon­day.

Act­ing Sta­tion Of­fi­cer Adam Sal­ter said the shed, which was be­ing used as ac­com­mo­da­tion, and the con­tain­ers were well alight when fire­fight­ers ar­rived, with the dam­age bill es­ti­mated at $100,000.

Mr Sal­ter said gar­den­ing equip­ment, work­shop tools, a gun safe, a gas cylin­der and war medals as well as other mem­o­ra­bilia were de­stroyed. No one was in­jured.
