Trif­fitt re­turned as mayor

THE Cen­tral High­lands Coun­cil was con­firmed last week with mayor Lou Trif­fitt en­ter­ing a new term in the top job.

The nine Cen­tral High­lands coun­cil­lors were fi­nalised this week from the 10 can­di­dates.

Coun­cil­lors Jim All­wright, Tony Bai­ley, Robert Cas­sidy, Julie Hon­ner and Jim Poore re­tained their seat on coun­cil along­side Cr Trif­fitt, while new faces elected were An­thony Archer, Scott Bow­den, and Anita Camp­bell.

Keith All­cock was the only can­di­date to miss out.

Cr Trif­fitt who was first elected in 2005 said she was ex­tremely hum­bled.

“It’s very sat­is­fy­ing and I’m very pleased with the sup­port I have from the lo­cal com­mu­nity,” she said.

“I’m quite en­thu­si­as­tic about get­ting on with the job. There are heaps of projects in mind I want to de­velop and I want to con­tinue to lis­ten to the com­mu­nity and work closely with the other elected coun­cil­lors.”

Jim All­wright was elected deputy mayor.
