GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 (M)

ADRIFT IN NOT-SO-DEEP SPACE, US, 137 MIN

A sci-fi adventure blockbuster definitely bigger in scope than its smash-hit predecessor, but a little less brash, and a lot more bloated than before. This time, the story is centred on unmasking the true parentage of Guardians spearhead Peter “Star Lord” Quill (Christopher Pratt). The movie actually spills the beans on this mystery quite early, clearing the way for the Guardians to get into the old-school banter and deep-space scrapes for which they are renowned. Vivid characters such as alien Gamora (Zoe Saldana), intergalactic strongman Drax (Dave Bautista) and the hyper-adorable tree trunklet Baby Groot (the voice of Vin Diesel) remain appealing figures, purely on the strength of how they embody the reckless rapport of the Guardians. Co-stars Kurt Russell, Elizabeth Debicki.
