Gold Coast and District Orchid So­ci­ety Spring Show: This is a fully judged show fea­tur­ing or­chids, suc­cu­lents and bromeli­ads which are also for sale. The show con­tin­ues today from 8am to 3pm at Al­bert Water­ways Com­mu­nity Cen­tre on the cor­ner of Hooker and Sun­shine Boule­vards. Call 0417 504 838.

Spring­time on the Moun­tain: The Tamborine Moun­tain Gar­den Club mem­bers will open their yards to the pub­lic. A trail pass can be pur­chased for $15 per adult (chil­dren are free) from the Botanic Gar­dens on Forsythia Drive, Ea­gle Heights or at any of the open gar­dens. From ex­traor­di­nary es­tates to bi­jou cot­tage gar­dens, there is some­thing to in­spire green thumbs of all ages. All funds raised go to­wards the con­tin­ued de­vel­op­ment and main­te­nance of the Tamborine Moun­tain Botanic Gar­dens.


Gold Coast Rose So­ci­ety An­nual Show: Held at Robina Com­mu­nity Cen­tre on Septem­ber 30 from 11.30am to 4.30pm and Oc­to­ber 1 from 9am to 3pm. Ex­hibitors from across the re­gion show their blooms. Pot­ted and cut roses for sale. Ad­mis­sion is $3. Go to gold­coas­tros­eso­ci­ety.org.au


Queens­land Rose So­ci­ety Spring Rose Show: Soak up the sight and scent of hun­dreds of colour­ful blooms at The Au­di­to­rium, Bris­bane Botanic Gar­dens Mt. Coot-tha. There’ll be ex­pe­ri­enced rose grow­ers from the so­ci­ety on hand to an­swer your ques­tions and ad­vise on the best roses to grow in Queens­land and how to care for them. View a wide va­ri­ety of roses and de­cide which ones you like best. There will be cut roses, pot­ted roses and gar­den­ing prod­ucts for sale. Ad­mis­sion is $4, chil­dren un­der five are free.
