FINALLY A SUPERHERO MOVIE KEEPING IT BRIEFS, US, 85 MIN

Have you ever had to stifle a laugh at a sudden mention of the planet Uranus? Then you will immediately understand the appeal of the Captain Underpants phenomenon. (A certain cultured type of primary schooler or kindergartener will be able to fill you in further, should you have any questions.) This sweet, silly and fun animated comedy is adapted from the lovably lowbrow children’s books of authorillustrator Dav Pilkey. Kevin Hart and Thomas Middleditch voice the roles of George and Harold, two best friends who have turned their narky school principal (Ed Helms) into a Y-fronted crime-fighter. This is not good news for Professor Poopypants (Nick Kroll) and his monster toilet robot. In the wrong hands, the tale of a superhero famous for zooming around in his jocks could have been another Emoji Movie. The Captain’s many fans will be relieved to know what is delivered here is remarkably true to the playful, pranky and ever-so-slightly naughty spirit of the books.

NEW FILM CAPTAIN UNDERPANTS IS TRUE TO THE PLAYFUL, PRANKY AND EVER-SO-SLIGHTLY NAUGHTY SPIRIT OF THE BOOKS BY DAV PILKEY.
