WE ARE GOLD COAST

THERE’S NO PLACE LIKE HOME. THREE LOCALS WEIGH IN ON WHAT THEY LOVE ABOUT OUR CITY #wearegoldcoast

The Gold Coast Bulletin - Gold Coast Eye - - EYE | INFORMER -

MOLLIE ROSE MILES Mermaid Waters What’s your favourite patch of paradise?

It would have to be Coolangatta, so many yummy restaurants and the gorgeous Rainbow Bay Beach.

Who makes the best coffee?

All-Time Coffee Co in Mermaid Beach. They have the best ice coffee in town ... plus who doesn’t want to add a doughnut to their order?

Best place to celebrate an occasion?

Garden Kitchen & Bar at The Star Gold Coast.

How has the Gold Coast changed in the time you’ve lived here?

I was born 25 years ago on the Gold Coast. It’s definitely changed. So many cool bars have opened and there are lots of events happening. The music and fashion scene is now out of control on the Goldie. I mean look at Pacific Fair now ... incredible!

What’s our best-kept secret?

Binna Burra. It’s so beautiful up there, especially the drive. It’s hands down the best view of the Gold Coast. It’s a great place to escape, stay in the cabins in winter, go for bush walks and have a bonfire.

CAROLINE GRAHAM Mudgeeraba What’s your favourite patch of paradise?

I know it’s a Gold Coast cliche to say Burleigh Heads, but I swim there most mornings and the good fortune of getting to live here never wears off.

Who makes the best coffee?

The good folks at Nook Burleigh make a great coffee. And even better, they know every regular’s name and do their bit for the karmic cycle by rewarding acts of kindness (like handing in a lost wallet) with a free cuppa.

The best place to celebrate a special occasion?

My partner is a chef at Morsels in Mudgeeraba, which I highly recommend, but you can’t celebrate in your own workplace so lately we’re obsessed with the kingfish sashimi at Lucky Bao.

What’s our best-kept secret?

If you go through the fruit and veg hall at Carrara Markets (past the co-op, who incidentally have the best homegrown cherry tomatoes), you’ll find a Taswegian Cafe & Deli. Order the pulled pork breakfast sliders – you won’t regret it!

BEN BLOXSOME Surfers Paradise What’s your favourite patch of paradise?

Tallebudgera or the Spit. They’re tranquil places where you can get away from the traffic and day-to-day troubles.

Who makes the best coffee?

Paradox Cafe in the 4217 building. Great flavour and a strong kick.

Best place to celebrate an occasion?

The Island Rooftop is great for those special nights that require more than pluggers and your best rugby shorts.

How has the Gold Coast changed in the time you’ve lived here?

I’ve seen the rise of many new towers since I arrived on the Gold Coast (Peppers Soul, Circle on Cavill, Hilton) and with Spirit and others on their way the skyline is becoming more spectacular.

What’s our best-kept secret?

I’m sure many a local will know about it, but I feel as though visitors tend to forget the Gold Coast hinterland. Sure, we are renowned for our coastal lifestyle, but there are plenty of stunning waterfalls, bush tracks and hidden gems tucked away in the trees.
