REALLY LIGHT UP YOUR LIFE

A new hotel on skis has launched in Finland allowing guests to watch the Northern Lights from the cosiest of beds. The wellappointed glamping cabin is towed into a remote wilderness location, deep in the Arctic Circle. Available to book through Off the Map Travel until mid-April, the rooms include a clear Aurora viewing roof and are located 6km east of Kilpisjärvi. Guests can use the cabin’s snowshoes and kicksled to explore the local area during the stay. “The wilderness surrounding Kilpisjärvi is known for its remote and uninterrupted Arctic tundra,” says Off the Map Travel’s Jonny Cooper. “Away from any man-made light pollution, it is here that the wilderness camp is placed for the winter, giving guests the best possible opportunity to experience the Northern Lights and simply enjoy the silence of the Arctic plains.” Local snacks and hot drinks are provided, with a warming breakfast also included in the overnight experience. Statistically, the Kilpisjärvi area has more clear night skies and records more Northern Lights activity than any other place in Finland. GIVE MUM A PROPER BREAK

It’s a dream for many mums – a luxurious overseas holiday with kids – however, many struggle with not only travelling alone with their children, but having to entertain them when they arrive. Family travel influencer Evie Farrell has been travelling the world for two years with her eight-year-old daughter Emmie and says she has the solution: luxury mum and kids’ retreats in Bali. “I started travelling with Emmie when she was four months old, and I often wondered if other mums felt comfortable travelling alone with their kids. I had an idea to create holidays for mums and kids, so that when they arrived at their destination they were immediately in a comfortable place with a small group of other mums to spend time with and kids to play with. It just takes the stress out of a solo-parent holiday with kids and means everyone gets to have a good time.” The Mumpack Travel Mum and Kids Luxury Bali Retreat is on from June 22 — 29. “We want mums to have a memorable and luxurious holiday where they can relax and enjoy a few wines, massages, dinners and outings while the kids play in the pool, have movie nights and learn about the culture here in Bali,” says Evie. Evie also runs Sri Lanka family holidays (for dads too) four times a year.
