One Million Years BC Noon, Gem ★★ PG. 1966. Our stoneage ancestors eke out a precarious living scrounging food as dinosaurs prowl the land. Okay remake of the old Victor Mature blockbuster pales besides the technical wizardry of Jurassic Park, though Raquel Welch in a pre-historic bikini beats Spielberg hands down. John Richardson. The Ghost Writer 7.30pm, Showtime Premiere ★★★ M. 2009. Ghost writer Ewan Mcgregor becomes trapped in a web of political intrigue when he is hired to write the memoirs of a former prime minister. Roman Polanski directs an ensemble cast that includes Pierce Brosnan and Kim Cattrall through this taut psychological thriller. Faith 9.30pm, SBS TWO ★★ M. 2010. A group of Muslim Berliners consider their options when choosing between religious adherence and the more open life of the German society they have joined. Routine drama that sheds little new light on the subject. Carlo Ljubek, Jeremias Acheampong. Madame Sata 11.10pm, SBS TWO ★★ MA. 2002. Madame Sata is the name given to homosexual, drag queen, tough guy and murderer Lazaro Ramos who haunts the slums of Rio when not serving time in jail. This caustic real-life portrait spares us little of the violent world he inhabited before his death in the 1970s. Repulsive, often unpleasant drama will not warm you to the character or his story. Marcelia Cartaxo.
