Psychics lend weight to real life mysteries in screen finale

CHANNEL 7’s search for Australia’s best psychic, The One ends when three psychics go head to head in their final studio challenge this week.

The trio each use their psychic abilities to decide which of seven boxes on a podium contain gold bars. Given only five minutes, they must nominate which boxes contain the gold bars and which boxes are empty. The trio will then attempt to solve a real-life police case. Their task: to find the remains of Kerry Whelan, a 39-yearold mother of three, who was kidnapped for ransom on May 6, 1997. Circumstantial evidence led to the conviction and imprisonment of a family friend Bruce Burrell, who is believed to have murdered Whelan and disposed of her body on his property at Bungonia, near Goulburn. Despite extensive police searches, Mrs Whelan’s remains have never been found.

The psychics are briefed by a former police officer and have a helicopter and 4WD to assist them in the search. Any information will be passed on to police.
