Farewell to feelgood reality show, well almost
AMERICA’S ABC network has cancelled Extreme Makeover: Home Edition after nine seasons. The series, hosted by Ty Pennington (pictured), debuted in December 2003 and featured a team of designers and contractors rebuilding homes, community centres and schools for those in need. ‘‘During its run, the quintessential feelgood reality show transformed the lives of thousands of deserving families and galvanised communities and businesses to help their neighbours in need,’’ the network says in a statement. The stories attracted a massive following and celebrity guests including First Lady Michelle Obama and Kim Kardashian. Though the show will no longer air each week, the network has not completely said goodbye. It plans to air four Extreme Makeover: Home Edition special episodes after the season’s end on January 13.
