Luxury pad for cricket’s budding superstars
FIFTEEN young cricketers lived in a state-of-theart mansion in Brisbane for the sport’s version of Australian Idol. The winner of Cricket Superstar will land a rookie contract with their home state and be feted as Australia’s next cricket sensation. Auditions were held across the nation to assemble this group and 15 finalists, mostly first-graders on the verge of state selection, were selected from a list of 60. They include pace bowler Jackson Smith, who plays for the Beenleigh Logan Cutters in the Brisbane Grade Cricket competition and Sam Brandon, a pace bowler for Caloundra Cricket Club. PAY-TV sportscaster Lee Furlong hosts the series on Fox8, judged and mentored by cricket great Allan Border.
