Ten gets jump on its ri­vals with an early peek at new line-up

CHAN­NEL 10 will be the first of the free-to-air net­works to re­turn to reg­u­lar pro­gram­ming be­fore the be­gin­ning of the rat­ings year in Fe­bru­ary. While tennis and cricket play out on Chan­nels 7 and 9 in com­ing weeks, Chan­nel 10 will give view­ers an early look at some of the net­work’s new shows. Soapie Neigh­bours, which airs on Ten’s multi-chan­nel Eleven re­turns on Mon­day, sev­eral weeks be­fore Chan­nel 7’s Home and Away. UK favourite The Gra­ham Nor­ton Show moves from ABC2, where it ends this week, to Chan­nel 10 from Satur­day week. Nor­ton’s first guests are film ac­tor Ger­ard But­ler, Karen Gil­lan, who plays Doc­tor Who’s Amy Pond, and Noel Gal­lagher, for­merly of the Brit band Oa­sis. Ten is still to an­nounce a launch date for its Young Tal­ent Time re­boot, but the se­ries with stage favourite Rob Mills in the host seat and orig­i­nal host Johnny Young be­hind the scenes as ex­ec­u­tive pro­ducer is ex­pected to de­but be­fore the month ends. The ABC is ex­pected to wait un­til Fe­bru­ary to launch the first of its big new dra­mas The Straits, filmed in north Queens­land. PAY-TV con­tin­ues to roll out new shows, among them Rachel Bil­son in Hart of Dixie from Satur­day (Fox8).
