Ten gets jump on its rivals with an early peek at new line-up
CHANNEL 10 will be the first of the free-to-air networks to return to regular programming before the beginning of the ratings year in February. While tennis and cricket play out on Channels 7 and 9 in coming weeks, Channel 10 will give viewers an early look at some of the network’s new shows. Soapie Neighbours, which airs on Ten’s multi-channel Eleven returns on Monday, several weeks before Channel 7’s Home and Away. UK favourite The Graham Norton Show moves from ABC2, where it ends this week, to Channel 10 from Saturday week. Norton’s first guests are film actor Gerard Butler, Karen Gillan, who plays Doctor Who’s Amy Pond, and Noel Gallagher, formerly of the Brit band Oasis. Ten is still to announce a launch date for its Young Talent Time reboot, but the series with stage favourite Rob Mills in the host seat and original host Johnny Young behind the scenes as executive producer is expected to debut before the month ends. The ABC is expected to wait until February to launch the first of its big new dramas The Straits, filmed in north Queensland. PAY-TV continues to roll out new shows, among them Rachel Bilson in Hart of Dixie from Saturday (Fox8).
