IT gameshow The Price is Right is returning to its original home on Channel 7 with the show’s longest serving host Larry Emdur at the helm.

‘‘I’ve always been madly in love with this show,’’ says Emdur. ‘‘Its sole purpose in life, the reason it exists, is to have fun and lots of it. When I was asked if I wanted to be involved in this new version, I was as excited as 20 showcase winners in an inflatable spa bath.’’

The Price is Right debuted in Australia on Channel 7 in 1957.

Emdur hosted two series between 1993 and 2005 for Channel 9.

The late Ian Turpie hosted Price on Channel 7 from 1981-1986.

Emdur says ‘‘Turps’’ would be thrilled the show is back.

‘‘During our very first production meeting we all agreed we should dedicate the first episode to Ian Turpie,’’ says Emdur.

‘‘We’ll begin with a special tribute to Turps. There’s a whole generation of people who grew up watching Turps on The Price Is Right. Now, we’ll now have a new generation seeing the show for the first time.’’

Emdur continues hosting The Morning Show with Kylie Gillies.

The show goes into production next week and is expected to debut post-easter in a 4.30pm timeslot ahead of Deal or No Deal, where an hour of gameshows will lead into news.
