R. 2008. Stunning performance from Mickey Rourke is the hallmark of this extraordinary film with an unlikely hero. Rourke’s character is a World Championship Wrestling cast-off, who is old, tired and beat up. Now trying to fashion a new life for himself outside the ring, he may also find romance of a sort with lap dancer Marisa Tomei. Great moviemaking, great performances. 9.30pm, Go!

M. 2005. Decidedly uncool sequel to Get Shorty reprises the John Travolta character, now out of the movie business and working as a music producer. It’s like watching 90 minutes of out-takes as the selfregarding cast wanders about making in-jokes about rap, gangstas, gangsters, gays and blacks. All are assumed to be far funnier than they are. Uma Thurman. 11pm, SBS ONE

M. 2008. New cop Jakob Cedergren lands a job in a town run by a wifebeating bully. What mysteries are held in the deep bog on the edge of town? Dark Danish thriller of withheld secrets draws equally from westerns and film noir to weave a compelling web. Lene Maria Christensen.
