Anita’s in Annie trio
Coast performer Anita Munro, 11, is one of three talented girls taking centre stage in producer John Frost’s latest hit, Annie the Musical. The St Andrews Lutheran College student will share the lead role with Brisbane girls Chloe Thielo and Xanthe Dunning for the Queensland season – but no one knows yet who will wear the red curly wig for Saturday’s opening night performance in the Lyric Theatre at QPAC, in Brisbane. The dream role will see Munro share the stage with entertainment royalty – Anthony Warlow, Todd Mckenney, Chloe Dallimore and Nancye Hayes. The new musical marks a return to the role of Daddy Warbucks for Warlow, who played the character in a 2000 production of Annie. Controversial broadcaster Alan Jones will show off his vocal skills in his musical theatre debut as President Roosevelt, while two other young local theatre stars have landed roles as orphans.
rehearsal this week are Blood Brothers directed by Clem Halpin for Spotlight; Chicago at Neptune Productions; Forever Plaid, also at Spotlight; Daughters of Heaven at Gold Coast Little Theatre; and Dinkum Assorted at Beenleigh Theatre Group.
