Fest looks for standout short films
inaugural Shorts in Paradise Film Festival, dubbed Sipfest, is looking for Australia’s best short films under 10 minutes. The outdoor event, staged on July 7 as part of the Surfers Paradise Festival, has put out a national call for entries. Entry is free and the closing date for submissions is June 1. Sipfest is open to films rated no higher than M and to all genres. Live judging will take place at the outdoor screening at Neal Shannon Park, with prizes awarded for best film, runner-up, directing, cinematography, editing and audience choice. The Sipfest prize pool comprises almost $10,000 in cash and industry prizes, including a Best Film package of $2500.
