Fest looks for stand­out short films

in­au­gu­ral Shorts in Par­adise Film Fes­ti­val, dubbed Sipfest, is look­ing for Australia’s best short films un­der 10 min­utes. The out­door event, staged on July 7 as part of the Surfers Par­adise Fes­ti­val, has put out a na­tional call for en­tries. En­try is free and the clos­ing date for sub­mis­sions is June 1. Sipfest is open to films rated no higher than M and to all gen­res. Live judg­ing will take place at the out­door screen­ing at Neal Shan­non Park, with prizes awarded for best film, run­ner-up, di­rect­ing, cin­e­matog­ra­phy, edit­ing and au­di­ence choice. The Sipfest prize pool com­prises al­most $10,000 in cash and in­dus­try prizes, in­clud­ing a Best Film pack­age of $2500.
